Glossary
- Collaborator
- A person who has been given access to a Data Management Plan and can view, comment on, or edit it, depending on their permissions.
- Dashboard
- The main interface where users can view and manage their Data Management Plans, including creating, accessing, sharing, exporting, or removing them. It is usually the landing page of the DMPonline.be where a user is taken right after logging in.
- Data Management Plan
- A document describing how research data will be handled throughout a project, from creation to long-term preservation and sharing.
- Guidance
- Explanatory text or instructions provided within a Template to help users understand how to answer specific questions in a Data Management Plan. In DMPonline.be, guidance can be found when filling out the Data Management Plan template on the right side of the screen. It is sorted by themes (e.g. data storage, data ethics, data description, …) and by source (usually institutions). Users can select multiple guidance sources in the Project Details Phase of a Data Management Plan.
- Live Version
- The version of the Data Management Plan that is editable and actively being written. See also Version.
- Phase
- A section of a Data Management Plan that corresponds to a tab in the template navigation bar of DMPonline.be. Some Templates include, for example, a Data Processing Impact Assessment phase, or a GDPR-specific phase.
- Stage
- A tag associated with the Live Version of a Data Management Plan or one of its Versions to indicate its completeness or maturity level in the Workflow, ranging from Initial Draft to Finalized or even Archived. Stages may be defined at institutional level.
- Template
- A predefined structure for a Data Management Plan, including questions and guidance, often based on funder or institutional requirements.
- Version
- A saved snapshot of a Data Management Plan at a specific point in time. A version is typically frozen and cannot be edited, allowing users to keep track of changes over time. The only version of a Data Management Plan that can be edited is called the Live Version.
- Workflow
- The sequence of steps a user follows to complete a task in the system, such as creating, editing, sharing, and finalising a Data Management Plan.
